Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro Max later this year, and new leaks have now revealed details about the upcoming flagship smartphone’s design, battery, camera upgrades and expected pricing. The latest reports suggest that Apple may continue refining the Pro lineup with incremental hardware improvements instead of introducing a completely new design language.
The iPhone 18 series is expected to debut around September 2026, although reports indicate that the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e models could arrive later, putting the spotlight on the Pro variants during the initial launch.
Design and display updates
According to recent leaks, Apple may retain the familiar triple-camera setup on the rear panel of the iPhone 18 Pro Max. However, the company is reportedly working on subtle refinements to improve the transition between the frame and the back panel for a smoother finish.
On the front, Apple is tipped to introduce a smaller Dynamic Island. Popular tipster Ice Universe claims the cutout could become nearly 35 percent narrower compared to the current generation. Earlier rumours suggested Apple was planning to introduce under-display Face ID technology, but newer reports indicate the company may not be ready for that upgrade yet.
The display size is expected to remain unchanged. The iPhone 18 Pro Max may continue to feature a 6.9-inch display, while the smaller Pro model could retain its 6.3-inch panel. Apple is also expected to use a more power-efficient LTPO+ display to improve battery performance.
Battery and performance details
Leaks suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro Max could become slightly thicker to accommodate a larger battery. Reports claim the smartphone may pack a battery capacity between 5,100mAh and 5,200mAh, which could make it one of the biggest batteries used in an iPhone so far.
The upcoming Pro models are expected to run on Apple’s new A20 chipset, which is reportedly being built using TSMC’s 2nm process. The chipset is tipped to deliver improved efficiency and faster overall performance. Apple may also introduce its new C2 modem with support for mmWave 5G and improved satellite connectivity.
Camera upgrades and expected pricing
Camera improvements are expected to remain a major focus for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple is reportedly testing a variable aperture system for the primary camera, allowing users to manually adjust light intake and depth effects. The company is also said to be evaluating a new three-layer stacked image sensor developed by Samsung for improved image quality and dynamic range.
The telephoto camera could also receive a larger aperture for improved low-light photography and better zoom performance.
As for pricing, analysts claim Apple may avoid a significant price hike despite rising component costs. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to launch in India at a price close to the current generation Pro Max model.
